We have an index for sections below, each corresponding to a page on this thread in the forum. This is to allow you to quick click back to near where you might have stopped reading.
The meeting hall seems to have several people milling about. Some have just finished their business with the chamberlain, some are waiting. At the end of the room is Nestrim sitting at a large table, dressed nicely but not extravagantly. He is in talks with an older, darker skinned man who seems to be arguing about carrots.
On Nestrim’s side is Alluvian. Sitting patiently, her eyes hidden behind the blindfold she wears. Today the blindfold has Corellon’s symbol across it, in beautiful silk thread. Her hair is a fire red, with purple stripes in it, she seems to be sporting a nose ring, with a drow originated nose ring. She is just sitting there, head cocked and listening to the conversation. Behind and to her left is Night Scale. Still as a stone statue she stands, not a single flicker of movement or response to those around her.
Key walks into the hall hand in hand with Anglerond. She pauses inside the doors and takes in the room. She finds a set of chairs in his line of sight and sits down to patiently wait for him to conclude his business. She throws an arm over the back of Anglerond’s chair and idly plays with a lick of his hair.
Meanwhile at some point during this talk, Alluvian’s head cocks in Key’s direction and a small smile plays on her lips. She says something quietly to Night Scale who smiles broadly and walks over to where Key is sitting, giving her a small bow.
Eventually as the seller leaves, Night Scale makes a loud coughing noise that seems almost a bark. Far louder then her human frame should emit. This causes the other people in the room to look around startled and as Night Scale motions to everyone to leave, muttering loudly about lunch and come back later, the crowd leaves the room.
Nestrim smiles up at Night Scale, then over to Key. He motions her to come join him.
Key walks slowly over to Nestrim’s table allowing everyone to exit the room. When she gets to the tabke she walks around it to give Nestrim and Alluvian a hug before sitting down in the seat vacated by the carrot seller.
“I didn’t mean for you to stop everything. I was enjoying watching you work. What was the carrot seller so upset over?
Nestrim chuckles, “He is upset that we take our dock percentage and then Kokand has its own tariff they have to pay when they ship it off our dock and into the city. I told him he could just load out in port, of course there is a two week minimum moorage lag and he would have to have his carrots be checked by inspectors. Sobhan somehow managed that our stuff is immune to being checked…”
Nestrim raises an eyebrow wonderingly at how Sobhan arranged that.
Key’s smile is wry with a touch of humor.
“Of course he did. We don’t want anyones dirty paws all over out loot. I would imagine it helps with wagging tongues as well. Am I keeping you from your work?”
Nestrim shakes his head as he asks a servant for wine “Not at all, I think by default anytime the boss is here it is all part of business.” He gives a wink to Key.
He does seem slightly uncomfortable with his next words, “Sobhan is great, he was an excellent choice as a supporter. I am idly concerned if he and you ever come to blows or an argument that he can topple us without risking the Silken Glove. Not that I think he would do that, but both him and Rabbit have an incredibly large stake involved and it just grows with us with how they invested it. Do you have any concerns about Sobhan… or even Rabbit when it comes to that?”
Key listens as Nestrim speaks. She obviously hadn’t taken his points into consideration before now. She doesn’t pause before answering.
“Not at all. I trust both of them. If we ever come to a point where we disagree I think we all know each other well enough to resolve things without any lasting harm. Have you seen or heard anything that is concerning to you?”
Nestrim shakes his head and makes a wave of his hand. “Not at all. If anything g is is extremely open in his communication with us. More then would ever be expected between friends. Of course you know Rabbit so I am sure my concern with her is purely hypothetical.”
Key leans forward and pokes Nestrim playfully. “Lets not borrow trouble. We’ve got enough of it already. Speaking of…” she trails off and shoots a glance over at Anglerond.
“Anglerond said that the old Langwiena estate and some of the surrounding area was up for sale. Do you think you could get it cheap? I’d like to set it up for the refugees from the Underdark.”
Nestrim watches his sister for a few moments curiously. “We can definitely do that, the influx of money lately has given me options. That will require us to double or more our staff and double our building if we want to have a second location. If its going to be refugees we are going to need even more extra security to not only protect the refugees but to make sure the refugees aren’t a threat to Kokand.”
Nestrim’s face becomes serious. “When you start offering refugee status, things get very serious. I am behind you if you want this, but I want to make sure you understand the political pressure and just cost in gold and food. Although, the Langwina estate would serve well and it is smart to keep any refugees outside of our actual manor. Especially since Kokand might decide to veto refugees coming into the city. Is this something you want?”
Key leans back in her chair. “Im sure I want to do this but could you explain the political pressure? Will I be risking these peoples lives? Could we not use the refugees themselves to cut down on the amount of new people we hire? My thought was to offer them a place to live and a job.” She pauses for a moment thinking.
“Its farm land out there right? They could farm it for a share and the rest would be used to provide food for this manor house.”
Nestrim sits back and shakes his head. “You absolutely will be risking everyone’s lives. However, if they have come as refugees I suspect their lives were in more danger wherever they came from.”
He looks over at Key, “We cannot use the refugees for anything at first. For several reasons. The first there will be an acclimation period. Some might be able to help outright, but that brings us into the second point. I won’t hire refugees right off. Refugees may not have our best interest at heart. I am not saying they are spies… but that is also a possibility, but they are not our people. Not until they have had time to acclimate and both sides can accept them. Some refugees are families, many are criminals or running from something. Especially since the darkness seems to be increasing we will get a lot of desperate people and we cannot rely on them to staff our house or the refugee camp.”
Nestrim takes a breath and continues on, “Of course we will hire from the refugee population, but we have to do it slowly and not rely on them. As for farming that is very unlikely. You assume most people coming to us will be farmers. I suspect most people will be running because their town/city/kingdom was overrun and its very likely they don’t have those skills, let alone the farming skills for the local terrain. Of course we can take them in as they show aptitude or experience but we need to have our own people to rely on.”
Key chews her lip for a second before responding. “Is this an idea that’s going to bankrupt us? Be honest. I feel like I keep piling stuff onto what we’re already doing. Am I adding to much to fast?”
Nestrim sits back and shakes his head. “No, we are fine. Your contributors have already each given me resources for that purpose. They both already seemed to know you would do this. Oh and the temple of Sekhmet and some of the other healing pantheons will help with feeding and healing if it becomes too much for us.”
“So this is all doable.” She seems to be talking almost to herself. “I’d like Anglerond to take care of as much as he can for you.” She smiles and looks between the two men.
Nestrim hesitates and looks a bit uncertain. He glances at Anglerond, back to Key and tentatively shakes his head, “That would be a bad idea on several counts. The first is, you wanted to keep him out of actual meet and greet politics, refugee handling is a high stress political job as much as a humanitarian one. The person is going to have to deal with multiple houses, races and families. This brings me to my second part, he used to be a Ranger and that won’t cut it working in those politics or with the refugees..”
Nestrim takes a moment to put his thought into words, “Barring the issues of Houses that dislike the Rangers the problem comes in with refugees. Rangers are often used to quell riots, rebellions and even into the crusades in the desert lands. They did the things that the other units wouldn’t do because of the ferocity and to be honest the butchery it took. Rangers also wage a constant war against the drow. You want to accept drow in here, the last person they would want to work with would be a ranger. I am not saying Anglerond couldn’t do it, I am saying his prior life would interfere. I can find him some important projects to work on that I could use taking off my plate if its that, but I recommend not refugees… although in the end that is your call.”
Anglerond, Alluvian and Night Scale do not react to Nestrim’s words. They just wait Key’s response.
Key doesn’t look at anyone but Nestrim. Because he knows her so well he can detect a tinge of sadness in her expression.
“I understand. My reasoning behind why I wanted Anglerond to take charge of this is emotional. You’v brought up some compelling logical arguments. I trust you to take care of things as you always do.” She smiles, winks and reaches over to squeeze Angleronds hand.
Nestrim watches Key’s response and sighs to himself “Let’s talk about it. It is obviously important, and part of this should be done based on your desire. What do you forsee him doing and what roles do you want him to play. Maybe I can make the refugee coordinator work if you could walk me through what you are thinking and feeling.”
Key lets go of Anglerond’s hand an leans forward. “I didn’t have any specific role in mind. Like I said, the decision waa an emotional one. I just thought if Anglerond took care of it it would be the next best thing to doing it myself. I want this to work. You know the best way to get it done. The space and safety for the refugees has to be the most important part of all this. If that means that things need to be done differently than I imagined then its fine.”
Nestrim nods “Fair enough, however don’t worry. He works hard and really does you well when he is working. He also helps Night Scale with Alluvian when she has a bad day, that is incredibly hard and something I can’t thank him enough for.”
He bows to Angelrond, serious in his feelings.
“I know you both work very hard. I couldn’t do any of this without you guys.” She leans back in her chair and motions to a nearby servant.
“You said something about lunch right?” She looks over to the approaching girl and asks her to bring whatever is being served as the midday meal.
“Im suddenly ravenous.” She smiles.
Nestrim, Alluvian and Anglerond all order as well, Night Scale doesn’t order any food.
Anglerond looks around for anyone else in the room and when he sees no one is there he then leans down and wraps his arms around Key, kissing her softly on the neck and just hugs her for a moment enjoying being with her. “Thank you for trusting me, my love.”
Key leans into him and smiles. She tries to turn her head a bit so she can see his face. She gives it up for a bad job and laughs softly. “Always.” She kisses the nearest body part and turns back to Nestrim and Alluvian.
“So what else has everyone been up to?”
Alluvian shifts, and Key can see her make a movement like any teenager rolling her eyes even though it is covered by the blindfold, “Someone… wants me to sit in on his meetings. Don’t get me wrong, he is good at this, and I am learning ways to handle things in a more mercantile way. I just hate being cooped up in here for a full day.”
She shifts in her seat, a marked difference in her regal demeanor when the room was filled with people not family. Night Scale watches her, purses her lips but says nothing.
Key turns her focus on Alluvian and raises both eyebrows.“Sometimes we have to do things we don’t like for the sake of knowledge. It sounds kike you’ve already learned something so the day spent indoors seems to be worth it.” She smiles at her sister, on guard fir flying objects.
Alluvian smiles at her sister and blows her a raspberry, “I already admitted I learned something… I just get anxious being stuck inside this long at a time. You think Luke will let me go if I show him my visions have gotten better?”
Night Scale is watching Alluvian intently when she talks about being stuck inside.
Key laughs. “You can try asking him again but I think we both know what his answer will be. Im glad your doing much better.” She smiles and reaches for a glass and fills it with water.
“How are your sessions at the temple going?
Alluvian smile gets larger, “She is incredibly nice. I am glad I get to be around Salkya. She even makes lunch for Night Scale and the cats come sit with both of us. She thinks this is going to be a long process but thinks I am positive of spirit enough that I might get through. She was having me help read old scrolls and tomes. She is looking for something for Luke, and I think she might have found it.”
Night Scale smiles at the talk of the cats while Nestrim snorts amusedly to himself.
Key takes a sip and smiles.“Im glad everything is going well. What is Salkya looking for? If you really want to go with us you may want to get her to sign off on it. I think that would go a long way at convincing Luke.”
Alluvian chuckles, “I am not getting between Salkya and Luke, he would kill me for that. He has her looking at things to help Rabbit, both with her demon pact and… with her worship of things. She was vague with me about it, she had to tell me enough to know vaguely what I am looking for. I think she is also looking for something about aging as well. Not for herself, but after talking to Rabbit I think she is worried if Luke aged out and passed away Rabbit might be done with life herself. You didn’t hear that from me.”
She nods as Alluvian speaks. “Rabbit had mentioned to me that she might have found something along those lines. Im one hundred percent behind the idea.” She elbows Anglerond lightly.
“There are a few other people besides Luke that we could employ it with.”
Alluvian nods enthusiastically, , “I know a couple people who could use that. I would like to keep everyone around as well.”
Anglerond blushes slightly, looks away and says nothing.
Key rolls her eyes playfully at Anglerond. “You’re important, even if you don’t think so.” She looks to Nestrim.
“How do you feel about all that?”
Anglerond watches Key for a moment. “I would be ok I think spending as much time with you as I can.” He pauses for a moment, “As long as the cost doesn’t hurt someone else. You don’t get things for free, everything has a cost. If the cost is acceptable I am happy to spend more time with you.” He gives Key a warm smile.
Key looks over at Anglerond and smiles sweetly. “She didn’t give me specifics. But when the time comes it will be a choice.” She leans over and gives him a quick kiss.
“As much as I want you around for the rest of my life, I won’t let me or anyone else force that kind of choice on you.”
Alluvian snickers good naturedly, “You two are worse than teenagers, so lovey dove. Although between you two and others” Alluvian paused what she was going to say as her head cocked towards Nestrim, “I think it is good, I am glad you enjoy each other. Right now you have more than most ever have. Every day more is extra.”
Key looks over at Alluvian with a look that a big sister would typically give her little sister when she is lovingly annoyed with her. “Im sorry Im grossing you out. Next time I’ll step up my game. I am glad for all the people in my life.”
Alluvian laughs and starts choking, when she recovers still smiling she cocks her head towards her sister., “You arr silly, I am not saying it is gross, I am saying I want a lot more details!!!.”
Her eyebrows draw together and her mouth kicks up at the corner. “Heh, that’s not going to happen. Nor do I want to know the details of your sex life.” She takes another drink of water and throws her feet up on the table.
“Im sure anything you could make up is way more exciting than what actually happens.”
Alluvian stops laughing but smiles at her sister softly, “I have been very experimental, and you shouldn’t doubt that can be exciting, but I wish I could find someone to love and be intimate with. Otherwise there is always a hole there… haha and not the one you are thinking. Rabbit was telling me about her experiences, more than 400 years alone. I worry I am going to end up that way sometimes, just without finding someone on the other end.”
Realizing how depressing she was sounding, Alluvian shifts her tone and moves on, “However, I am really young and just experimenting, I don’t need anything full time right now.”
Key’s expression goes soft. “You’ll find someone. You are right you have lots of time. Don’t rush into anything. I bet you’ll find someone when you least expect it.” Her eyes flick over to Nightscale then beck to Alluvian.
Alluvian gets quiet for a moment, then smiles broadly as if nothing bothered her “Of course you are right. I am sure I will find it fairly soon and I have a long life to look forward to exploring it..”
Something about her tone gives Key a thought that maybe Alluvian doesn’t believe she will live a long time or be happy and live long.
Key takes note of all the things unsaid by her sister she reaches out and pats her hand and gives Nestrim a look. “So what else is going on Brother?”
Nestrim smiles, “I have been very busy lately. Alluvian takes a lot of time, I visit with Luke when I can. I think Rabbit and I are trying to work out schedules and ground rules with Luke. I have had to watch Alluvian even more… someone is outside at 3 in the morning, doesn’t need to do that. Oh and I have been doing some research for your questions about all of the king drama, but I haven’t gone through it enough to write it up for you yet.”
Key squints over at Alluvian for a moment when Nestrim mentions her being out at 3am. “King drama? There is so much drama if you wouldn’t mind reminding me?”
Nestrim looks concerned for a moment when she didn’t remember but smiles and winks at her, “You are too busy, I shouldn’t have expected you to remember at the top of your head. You asked to find out about all the contracts your ancestor the king had, along with who they were allied with them and if there is any information to use. Mostly the fighting between the nobility over the title before it passed on to our family… the Elenren.”
Her eyes light up. “Okay! I do remember now.” She blushes.
“Could we use any of the information to build alliances of our own?”
Nestrim nods to his sister “I think so, I am hoping to have something for you when you get back. Do you know how long you will be home when you get back?.
She shakes her head. “Not sure. I think it will depend on how things go while we’re down there.” Her face goes grave with worry.
Nestrim leans over and takes Key’s hands in his own. He smiles and squeezes lightly, “Do not fret dear sister. We are long lived creatures and building empires takes humans lifetimes. You have time, and if you don’t have the time and things in the world are falling apart, it is probably better you focus on that instead. Do not take worries that have not yet roosted as your own.”
Key gives him a smile that doesn’t quite reach her eyes. “Its the ones that have roosted that Im worried about.” She lets go of his hands and swings her kegs over the side of her chair. The motion is meant to make her seam rekaxed but it doesn’t fool anyone.
“Veronwe was trapped in that other dimension hell hole for as long as Alluvian and Nightscale. Probably suffered similar trama at the hands of those monsters. Now, he may be back in our dimension but he’s on his way to being a sacrifice for a sadistic queen and the being she worships. We have to sneak into the Underdark, steal him from a heavily guarded slave caravan in sight of the largest city in the underdark and get away with out being killed by the small army of handmaidens and probably glorian.” Taking in a large breath and letting it out she continues.
“After we get him home I can worry about the other chickens.” She chuckles softly.
Nestrim nods to Key, noticing her reaction and filing that away for later, “Veronwe is not the same as Alluvian. He is going through horrible things, but he isn’t an elf, he is an avatar. I sort of feel bad for Miffle and Ember more, they are mortal creatures while Veronwe is a vessel. Doesn’t mean he isn’t his own person, but he has access to his own reserves.”
Nestrim’s eyes slide towards Alluvian and Night Scale when he started talking, hoping to not upset them he tries to keep the tone of his words chipper.
Key taps a foot in the air while she contemplates how she feels. “I feel a bit better, but no one should have to endure that no matter where thier reservoir of inner strength lies.” She waves away her inner turmoil.
“I can’t do anything to change it right now. Drowning in worry doesn’t do anyone any good.” She smiles.
Alluvian leans forward towards the sound of Key’s voice, “Would it help to know that I sometimes talk to Veronwe? He asked me not to say anything, but I think its fine to tell you he is doing ok. He isn’t comfortable but he is still doing what he does.”
She turns toward Alluvian her eyebrows drawing together. “It does help. How are you talking to him and how often?”
Alluvian looks unsure if she should answer Key’s question, “Sometimes when I have a spell… I can push what I am seeing to be where he is at. It is hard to do and it slips away but when I do see him, he sees me.”
She focuses her full attention on Alluvian. “Don’t go out of your way to contact him. But if you do encounter her tell him we are coming for him.” She watches Alluvians reaction closely.
Alluvian gives her sister a soft smile, “I will tell him that, I am sure I will talk to him. He helped me a lot when I was down in the caves, and I know he talked to Night Scale a lot when she was without any limbs, kept her sane. I hope you can rescue him.”
“That is the ultimate goal. He can’t stay with the drow.” She shakes her head emphatically.
“Im mentally prepared for a tough fight to ger him back.”
Alluvian shrugs, “I will tell him that, I do know that he knows you are coming. He is worried about everyone and doesn’t want anyone to pay to rescue him. He would rather you didn’t risk yourselves, but I know that it doesn’t matter what he wants.” She gives her sister a nod, indicating she believed they should rescue him too.
“Damn straight.” She slaps the top of the table for emphasis.
“I think he should know us better by now. The only way I wouldn’t go down there is if he had a self distruct button and I was convinced that he would actually use it.” She pauses for a few beats.
“Does anyone think there is something else going on with Veronwe that hasn’t been disclosed? Or am I just reading something that isn’t there? I would think that he would want us to come get him and his god. I feel as though he’s trying to push us in the other direction.” She shakes her head.
“Never mind, Im just being overly paranoid.”
Alluvian shakes her head, “He doesn’t want you to come after him because he is the god of protection of his people, he doesn’t want his people dying trying to rescue him. Although Nestrim was telling me that part of the reason you are going down isn’t just to rescue, but to ensure he doesn’t stay in the hands of the enemy since that may be advantageous for them. Seems reasonable to go after him no matter what.
Key tilts her head. “That makes sense and yes, that is one of the reasons we are going. We can’t let them upset the balance of power in that major of a way. Are you planning to ask Luke about going with us?”
Alluvian smiles mischievously, “I am sure you didn’t even need to ask that, you knew I would. I am just trying to figure out the best way to approach that.” With that Alluvian lays her head on her brother’s shoulder, making Nestrim look vaguely uncomfortable.
Key smiles at the pair. “Maybe after he’s had a lot of sex? Then go to him bearing a meal and lots of examples of how you’ Improved. Adding in something about how well you can defend yourself wouldn’t hurt either.”
Alluvian’s smile gets even larger, “All that plus I think Salkya might back me. She has been meditating and praying to Sekhmet. Sekhmet told her that she approves of me going.” The excitement in Alluvian’s face can’t be held back much longer as she smiles hugely.
“The problem is, even if we convince Luke, we have to convince Rabbit that I can go and Rabbit doesn’t obey gods or priestesses.”
Key’s eyebrows rise up into her hairline. “You convinced Salkya? Wow.” Her eyebrows go roght back down when contemplating Rabbits possible attitude toward events.
“Rabbit usually doesn’t care one way or the other. What is her issue with your going?”
Alluvian gets a little quiet, “She cares, she talks to me and does things for me, but she worries about my exposure to Mori and the underdark for so long. She doesn’t know if it will have a bad effect on me. She thinks she needs to focus on Veronwe and I would be a possible distraction.”
Alluvian shifts slightly “I also think she is worried my connection to whatever it is they did to me, might compromise us in the middle of the underdark. She didn’t say that directly, but I think that is the worry.”
“She has some very valid points. Your going to have have some prefty convincing arguments to sway her. As a matter of fact Im inclinded to seay in Rabbits direction after hearing her reasoning as well. You can bet that Luke will use that as leverage as well.” She smiles warmly and leans back in her chair, seemingly relaxed.
Alluvian sighs heavily although it doesn’t seem like this was an unexpected response, “I will still push for it, but I thought you would say that. I figured that even before I told you, but I didn’t want to keep anything secret from any of you.”
Alluvian leans forward and after a moment takes Key’s hand in hers. She raises it up and gives it a soft kiss and smiles. “If I end up not going, you just have to promise to be careful, I like having a sister and I have gotten fond of that situation and you.”
Keys eye sparkle with mirth. “Im always careful.” She barks out a laugh not able to contain the laughter at her own joke. She takes her hand from Alluvian and brushes gentle fingers down her cheek before replacing the hand on the table between them. Her expression shifts to something a bit more serious.
“I have no intention of dying down there. I have plans for my future that don’t include meeting my end by the pointy end of an enemy sword.”
Alluvian gets quiet and hesitates, “It isn’t a pointy end of a sword I worry about. There are really really bad things down there, I think it is a lot worse then even when Rabbit lived there. Things are walking the deeper tunnels and caverns that haven’t been here for thousands of years. Even the drow are scared to go into certain places.”
“I’ll be careful. We fortunately don’t have to travel as far as we did last time from what I understand.” She pauses for a moment.
“There is a fine line between enough and too much caution.”
Alluvian looks uncomfortable, “You might want to talk with Rabbit, I was given to understand the second trip is in fact a lot longer, something like 4 weeks of travel just to get to where they are, and then it might be double that getting out depending on how you are chased and what ares you have access to to escape through.”
Key shakes her head.
“I could be wrong, I thought I heard something about a portal that would deop us relatively close. Close is open to perspective I guess.” She shrugs one shoulder.
It seems to be Anglerond’s turn to look uncomfortable. “It is unlikely there is a portal there. The underdark has a few portals that go between some of the great drow cities and it takes a lot more magic to get them to work then up here due to the ambient underdark magic.” He pauses for a moment, “If you are going near the home cities of the drow, four weeks travel is a very short amount of time to get there. Rabbit is probably taking you through one of the many secret entrances into the underdark, but unlikely its a portal. I know she was buying enough supplies to last 18 weeks down there, and I bet she worries that isn’t enough. Although she can probably teach you to eat the underdark flora and fauna, the fungus is edible… I guess so are a lot of other things the drow like to eat, but I can’t stomach” He gives Key a sympathetic smile.
Key listens quietly. “That all makes sence. I must have misunderstood something someone said. Rabbit has already started to teach us what is safe to eat. Most of it is pretty bland to my taste. It will keep you alive and thats whats important.”
Anglerond’s face screws up into a look of distate. “She has been very nice then, a lot of their food is incredibly bitter, spicy or bitter and spicy. A lot of blood as well, makes my stomach turn thinking about it.”
He pauses for a moment, “Although you should get her to make you ‘T’puuli Duulakah’ I think it translates as white pie. That was actually really good, I was surprised myself on that.” He gives Key a sympathetic smile.
Key seems non plussed by the food discriptions. “I think you’re right. Depending on the level of heat I think I might enjoy the spicy stuff. She hasn’t made anything traditional for us. Its all been cave fungus and the like. She was showing us what was safe to eat in case we have the need for some reason.”
A smile slips across Nestrim’s face and then disappears, replaced by a wink at his sister, “I really do think you would like their spicy food, it is just a matter if your guts like it. You need to go out and relax and enjoy yourself before going back though. Take your ….” he hesitates, the word husband seemed to almost come out of his mouth before it stopped, “take your boy someplace nice. Have drinks, maybe rent a room in a beautiful place for a night, and enjoy being a rich Empress for a short time before going back down.”
Key barks out a laugh. “Rich, your funny. Im in debt to my eyeballs. My grand kids may not be able to pay it off.” Her words are serious but her eyes are full of humor.
“This house is more than luxurious enough for me. I don’t get to spend enough time in it as is. I do have plans to lock us in a room and not come out until I have to leave.”
Nestrim gives both lovers a happy look, “Go now my Empress, I think your battle sister, hand sister, whatever the hell you call her… or is it just sister? Will be prodding you all to leave soon. Go spend time with your man, enjoy the company. If you could call Rabbit up and distract her I wouldn’t mind sneaking in to seeing Luke while he is still here… well see him more than I have been”
Key smiles broadly and looks over and Anglerond then back. She speaks to him while she rises out of her chair to head to the door.
“I’ll do my best to get you some quality time.” She winks and gives him a little salute before heading toward the door.
Nestrim puts his hand on Alluvian’s, forestalling any impetus by her to keep talking, “Enjoy your time sister, and promise me no last stand heroics. You have people here who need you and people with you that is their role to step in the way if it comes to it.” He looks seriously at his sister, knowing full well how selfless she is and how devastating that can be to her dream.
Key stops and turns to face him, her expression just as serious as his. “I can only be myself.” She gives him a shallow bow filled with love and respect then turns and exits the room.
